I needed to watch this today....

After a LONG day, (week, month... with more yet to come) I saw this posted on someone else's blog tonight and watched it. And cried. And prayed. And resolved... to be better. to do more. to be more grateful.

I don't know if you know, but we're going through a little bit of a tough time right now. Keith has had pain in his right leg since November and it's steadily gotten worse. Since the end of February, it's been harder and harder for him to even move. And for pretty much all of April, he's had to lay down almost all day long. We finally found out what's wrong - a disc in his lower back is half an inch out of place. There's pretty much nothing they can do to fix it, except surgery. He'll be having back surgery very soon to bolt two of his vertebrae together. He'll be in the hospital for a few days, bed for a while after that, and then a 3-5 month recovery till he's back to normal. And we have to hope that the disc being out of place for so long didn't permanently damage the nerve... because if it did, he'll still have the pain after surgery.

But we're alive. Our children are alive and healthy. And happy. We'll make it through and we'll be stronger for it.

  3. I know what you and Keith are going through & will be praying for a positive result and a full recovery from surgery! My husband has endured 3 back surgeries in under 2 years for an injury to his spine. He fell on site and his disc slipped & then snapped off into his spinal canal, where it calcified & was pressing on the nerve (very touch & go stuff). Original specialist refused to do an MRI to properly diagnose the problem & by the time he was refered to a neurosurgeon the damage to the nerve was done but very hard to sue doctors in this country! That neurosurgeon then messed up putting in fusions which came loose after two months. He has permanent numbness in under his right foot & is in such chronic pain on a daily basis that we are both at our wits end, although we are grateful that he is mobile and didn't lose bladder and bowel movement (which was almost the case). My advice is to make sure you get the very very best specialists you can & even second and third opinions before you let anyone cut on his spine. Once the damage is done there is nothing that can be done to reverse it again. Will keep you in my prayers.

  5. Kathleen,

It's me, Misty. Your neighbor who writes way more about herself on her blog than she should *wink*.

First of all, what may not show through my blog is that I have a lot of compassion. Compassion for those that are hurting, and I wanted you to know that I truly am sorry your family is experiencing this particular trial right now with your husband's health. God be with you and bless you.

Also... the video. It's true. The words spoken about our beloved leaders at the end, are true. Thank you for sharing. I've been feeling discouraged over my miscarriage a couple weeks ago (my 2nd now after my dead, sweet newborn, Isaac), and something uplifting was just what I needed to listen to.....

    Love, Misty
